We, the undersigned, respectfully request the immediate reconsideration and reinstatement of Mikayla Mallett as Head Coach and Tumbling Sports Coordinator for the OTO YMCA Cheer Program.

Over the course of her leadership, Mikayla has built more than just a successful cheer program- she has built a family, a culture of accountability, and a positive environment where athletes feel supported, motivated and valued. Under her guidance, the program has experienced tremendous growth, improved performance, strong team unity, and competitive success that has made OTO and the community proud.

Beyond wins and accomplishments, Mikayla has consistently demonstrated dedication to the athletes and families she serves. She has invested countless hours mentoring athletes as junior coaches, encouraging confidence, teaching discipline, and creating opportunities for young athletes to thrive both on and off the mat. Her impact reaches far beyond cheerleading.

Many athletes and families were shocked and deeply saddened by her termination. We believe this decision does not reflect the positive influence she has had on the athletes, the program, and the community. We respectfully ask the board and executive staff to fully reconsider this decision and listen to the voices of the athletes, parents, alumni and supporters who have directly experienced her leadership and commitment. 

Reinstating Mikayla would restore stability, trust and morale within the program while showing that the concerns and voices of athletes and families matter. 

We request that leadership: 

*Reevaluate the decision to terminate Mikayla Mallett

*Meet with the athletes, families and supporters regarding community concerns  

*Reinstate her to her position for the continued success and well-being of this cheer program

Our intention is not to create division, but to advocate for a coach and mentor who has positively impacted so many lives and helped create a respected, successful program we are proud to support.
