The issue

As local residents with an unyielding love for our four-legged friends, we deeply feel the importance of off-leash dog socialisation and play. As stated by researchers from the University of Western Australia, dogs and humans who regularly engage in exercise and play are both mentally and physically healthier. This is why the decision by Mayor and Council - despite a resounding 77% vote - to revoke access to La Balsa, a haven for our dogs, feels not just disruptive, but also unfair. There is a glaring injustice here, as this decision seems to favour those with the privilege of council favour, leaving the rest of us and our dogs without a much-needed outlet.

We, therefore, urge the Mayor and Council to reconsider their decision about La Balsa and prioritise the well-being and rights of all constituents. We need our shared space back. We need La Balsa back.

Join us in speaking up for our dogs who cannot speak for themselves. Please sign this petition, and let's bring change together, ensuring that off-leash space is available and accessible for all, not just those lucky ones living near the beach.
