Our love and passion for horse racing, a sport steeped in history and beauty, stems from a deeply personal place. My 63-year-old father has dedicated his life to the Alameda County fair since he was 18 years old. His admiration for horses made our family grow fond of the races. The sport has been an integral part of our lives, shaping our family traditions and memories. Sadly, these cherished moments have abruptly ended with the discontinuation of horse races at the fair.

The cancellation has significant ripple effects on many lives, including our family. My parents’, and numerous others’, livelihoods are threatened, putting them in positions where moving out of state or down south might be their only choice. They have until March 25th 2025  to leave and move the horses. This situation is heartbreaking and can be prevented.

Horse racing attracts thousands of attendees every year, making it a significant part of Alameda County fair's heritage. It is not just a sport, but a conduit for community bonding and shared joy among horse lovers. We request our local leaders and electorate to revise their decision and preserve this age-old tradition and all the emotions it encapsulates.
