It's heartbreaking to learn that the university plans to cut our funding, a decision that threatens not just our team, but the accessibility of this beautiful sport to future students.

Riding is a dying sport, and our team stands as a beacon of hope and continuity for equestrianism at collegiate levels. The university's decision to cut the club sports programs, impacting women-led teams like ours, the dance, and cheer teams, feels like a step back from supporting diversity in sports. These cuts make it virtually impossible for us to afford lessons, compete in IHSA shows, or hire an instructor—all critical components for maintaining high standards and the spirit of competition.

The decision to cut funding is not just about money—it's about opportunities lost. Our entire region and our zone chair support us, and we are pleading for the support of our community and university administration.
