For many years prior to 2024 the ECU Marching Pirates have played the stand tune “Neck” it is among the fan favorites as everyone knows it. Almost every other college in the area and large colleges in general play this stand tune. It originated at LSU. It was most band members favorite tune and the student section loved to sing along. 

Unfortunately this song was cut! We were told we are not allowed to play it anymore due to the student section saying words. I do not believe this is fair to the band or any student who say the actual words. We are adults here and should not be reprimanded for someone saying a curse word. I understand that some elders and sponsors may not completely agree but can’t we just let the students have this one thing that they enjoy without being diminished for it. 

If we wait to long to try and get it back nobody will know the beloved tune anymore, there is only 3 years left of people who have played/heard it. 

Me and the members of the band and students section would greatly appreciate you taking this into consideration to allow us to play Neck.
