On the most recent meeting of Polmont Community Council on 30th March (not 20th, sorry!), I continued to update them on the process of this petition and I now have 385 signatures. Unfortunately, there have been no replies from the Local MSP Michelle Thomson before the Scottish Parliament broke up for the run up to the General Election in May. I also raised my concerns about people without free bus passes who have to fork out for a more expensive day ticket instead of a return to attend hospital appointments and about the safety of vulnerable people having to hang around outside Falkirk Asda between buses.
The meeting was attended by two Lower Braes Councillors, Anne Hannah and Gordon Forrest who told me that Falkirk Council will be conducting a report into local bus service provision in June, however it will likely be for the provision of Demand Responsive Transport as opposed to a conventional service.
In the meantime, I have been advised to keep actively campaigning for the reinstatement of a direct service so please keep signing & sharing!
