The Issue

Our co-worker Chris “Crispy” Conley was unjustly terminated on November 5th, and our union is demanding his reinstatement.
Crispy was fired after he wore a union shirt to work.
The Loft’s uniform policy, used as a pretext for the firing, is not in writing and was not strictly enforced until we unionized and began wearing t-shirts to express our support for the union.

Our union was certified in June 2025, and we are in the contract bargaining process. One of our demands is “just cause termination.”

We need your support.
Stand with the Loft workers: Sign our petition to reinstate Crispy and let the Loft management know that we have the right to support our union, and deserve reasonable discipline policies.

Reinstate Crispy!

Here is a word from Crispy himself:

My name is Christopher Conley. To my friends I’m “Crispy.” I’ve lived in Tucson for just over a year, and in that time I’ve fallen in love with The Loft and the community around it that took me in. On November 5th, I wore my union t-shirt to work. I was  told to change or go home, and when I asserted my right to wear the shirt and asked for my union representative to be present, I was fired on the spot. I wanted to stay and work, I wanted to wear the shirt emblazoned with the logo of the union that The Loft employees fought so hard to be represented by. Instead, my boss threatened to call the police and have them charge me with trespassing  and forcibly remove me.

I am a laborer who was proud of his labor. I am your neighbor. I shouldn’t have had to choose between pride in my labor—pride in my union—and the community that I love. To me, they go hand in hand. I didn’t want to be fired. I want to continue working for the Loft, to continue to be a part of the beautiful community around it. And I want to do it while being part of a union. The community that loves the Loft deserves accountability from it, and we all deserve to take pride in this community, together.
