Reinstate Cocaine in Coca-Cola for Authentic Historical Flavor

Reinstate Cocaine in Coca-Cola for Authentic Historical Flavor
The Issue
I'm passionate about the authenticity of historical products, especially when it concerns beloved brands like Coca-Cola. Back in 1886 when Coca-Cola was introduced, its recipe boasted not only kola beans for a caffeine hit, but also 9 milligrams of cocaine. This unique, invigorating mix, provided an affordable pick-me-up for consumers at that time. But things changed in 1903 when cocaine was removed from the recipe due to links with crime, greatly altering the original beverage's spirit.
Today, we face a vibrant energy-drink market, but the offerings can't compare to the substance that Coca-Cola provided in its original recipe. In spite of the hip and modern marketing, products like Red Bull simply don't live up to the mark. We, who reminisce the days when the 'Real thing' really was the real thing, urge Coca-Cola to return to its roots and reinstate this key ingredient. Of course, pending appropriate regulation and controls given the knowledge we have today of cocaine and its effects.
While we understand the public health consciousness that dictated Coke's recipe alteration, we should take into account the context of the period when these changes were made. The early 1900s was a time when the effects of cocaine were not clear. The decision to remove it from Coca Cola was informed by panic and sensationalism rather than science. Now, with modern medical knowledge, it is possible for us to find a responsible way to bring back an authentic Coca Cola formula for consumers who desire it.
It is important that we appreciate the historical depth of iconic brands. Let's encourage Coca-Cola to honor its history and give those who wish for it the chance to enjoy the drink as it was originally intended.
Please, sign this petition. Let's persuade Coca-Cola to think outside the box, go back to their roots, and reinstate the original ingredient for an authentic historical flavor.
