There are 31 children from the greater Bantry area traveling daily from Bantry to Schull without a bus to take them there. This will be increasing by 11 for September 2025 while two leave secondary education for third level. We need Minister Helen McEntee to grant us a dedicated school bus for our children.

Hundreds of children all over Ireland are having issues with school busses. The Minister for Education Helen McEntee is letting down our children needing a bus to get to and from school.

The cost and stress on children and parents alike is absolutely huge. Some parents reporting driving up to 7500km per week on school runs. Are we not meant to be reducing our carbon emissions? With so many unnecessary cars on the road, parents late for work or having to leave work early plus the extortionate cost of petrol and diesel in this country it's time for action. 

Our children deserve to get to school free of stress from how they get there and who and when can they be collected and not waiting at school gates for parents rushing and racing on the roads so they're not on their own long after school closes for the day. 

Our Taoiseach Micheál Martin has promised to work with the Minister for Education on this matter to resolve it once and for all. 

Let's put some pressure on Minister McEntee to do the right thing.
