Thank you to everyone who continues to support this petition. I want to share that due to the emotional toll and ongoing PTSD symptoms, I have had to step back from advocacy efforts with RMTAO and CMTA. Following the CMTO’s response, I will be turning my attention toward building new partnerships and developing a long-term advocacy strategy in the near future.
I’ve learned through legal guidance that the type of change we’re seeking—such as a Patient Code of Conduct—would require standalone legislation. This petition is just the beginning.
I remain committed to protecting RMTs and other healthcare workers from client misconduct and advocating for systemic change. Please stay tuned as I explore new ways to support this movement.
As I focus on my own healing, I’ll be connecting with a local charity to access support for my self-care needs. My hope is to eventually bring some of these vital resources—such as peer support, sexual assault counselling, and trauma-informed education—to other practitioners if I can. In the future, I aim to help build access to workshops and tools that address practitioner safety, client sexual misconduct, and discharge protocols, so that no RMT feels isolated or unsupported in navigating these challenges.
I always have big goals, but for now I have to take care of myself. Just know that I won't forget about you - as I know I'm not the only one.
Yours in Solidarity,
Ashley Culp, h.BA, RMT
