📢 The RMTAO is currently seeking feedback on its continuing education through a short survey open until July 31 at 3 p.m.

This is more than a chance to request technique refreshers or CEUs. It’s an opportunity to advocate for the critical education RMTs need to feel safe and supported in their work.
📊 The CMTA’s National Study on Sexual Harassment and Assault of Canadian Massage Therapists revealed devastating truths:
➡️ The majority of respondents had experienced sexual harassment and/or assault by a client.
➡️ RMTs in the study reported higher rates of sexual violence than the general population.
➡️ Many live in ongoing fear of client misconduct, even without active incidents.
This is not acceptable—and it is not our burden to carry in silence.
We need robust education and policy support that:
✅ Teaches clear, trauma-informed de-escalation and discharge protocols
✅ Helps RMTs document and report misconduct safely
✅ Outlines scripts and boundary-setting tools
✅ Promotes public education to distinguish regulated therapy from sexualized services
✅ Clarifies zero-tolerance policies and strengthens advocacy at all levels
🧠 Education is prevention. But it must come with accountability for clients and institutions, not just therapists adjusting to survive.
👉 If you're an RMTAO member, use this survey to demand training that protects us, supports survivors, and sets a clear standard for professionalism and safety in our industry.
Because we all deserve a practice free from fear.
Because we can’t “flourish” if we’re in survival mode.
Because enough is enough.
