Vets in the UK are now mainly owned by large institutions.  Gone are the days of the individual vets. Fees vary enormously from one part of the country to another and there is no Governing body controlling this.  Well there is - it's the Royal College of Veterinary Surgeons but they do not regulate the fees. Vets can now charge whatever they think they can get so they do.  It's unfair, it's greedy and urgent regulation is needed in this field otherwise people will either have to surrender their pets to rescues or worse.  I cannot think of any other field where there is no legislation on the prices charged. It's scandalous
