The world is choking on plastic. Since the middle of the 20th century, over seven billion tonnes of plastic has been produced, and to date, only 10% of it has been recycled.

In 2022, the United Nations Environmental Program (UNEP) instated the International Negotiating Committee (INC) to develop an international legally binding instrument on plastic pollution, including in the marine environment. However the INC has yet to reach an agreed upon treaty as they head into INC-5.2 later this year.

This petition calls to action the voices of the people who are concerned by the lack of regulation around plastic production - and who wish to put their names to the UNEP and INC to show growing global support for the proper management of plastics and plastic production.
