Regulate Pharmaceutical Pricing to Reduce Burdensome Costs
Regulate Pharmaceutical Pricing to Reduce Burdensome Costs
The Issue
As an individual deeply concerned about the public good and health outcomes in our country, I am alarmed by the excessive MRP of medicines. This issue has led to astronomical treatment costs, painfully endured by everyday people who are, at times, forced to sell personal assets, take risky loans, or exhaust their financial safety nets of insurance far too early. This issue is not just a personal or an individual problem - it spectacularly increases the government healthcare burden when it comes to processes like reimbursement through Government schemes.
Pharmaceutical companies appear to be dictating these prices at their discretion, in line with hospitals operating not as healthcare providers but as corporate enterprises, driven by financial gain.
In the context of the Indian healthcare system, this is a grave repercussion that goes against the ethos of providing care and healing. Here, consider the impact on the underprivileged who can't afford the high costs of medication, leaving them helpless and reducing their chances of recovery. People are left with the bitter choice: health or financial ruin?
To address this, we propose that the government regulate the pricing of pharmaceutical products, ensuring it is kept at an affordable level. This initiative can save countless lives and reduce the financial strain on millions of families across our nation.
It is our duty as citizens to ensure equitable access to essential services like healthcare. Let's take responsibility for the wellbeing of everyone in our society, irrespective of their economic standing. Help us in sending a strong message to the Government and Drug Authorities to cap/regulate trade margin on medicines at the earliest. Please sign this petition to urge lawmakers to take swift action on this matter.
