The issue

In recent months, I have noticed an alarming trend: cosmetic and plastic surgeons are increasingly using AI-generated images in their online advertisements. Although these images can be visually appealing and convincing, they often make claims that are not backed by genuine medical evidence. As someone deeply concerned about public safety and transparency in medical advertising, I believe that the unregulated use of such imagery poses a significant risk to potential patients.

Many individuals seeking cosmetic procedures are lured by the promise of miraculous results depicted in these AI-enhanced images. Unfortunately, these depictions may not accurately represent the outcomes of the actual procedures, potentially leading patients to undergo treatments that are not proven to be safe or suitable for their needs. This form of misleading advertising undermines the trust that patients must have in their medical professionals and can result in both emotional and physical harm.

Currently, there is no central regulatory body monitoring the authenticity and reliability of images used by cosmetic surgeons in their marketing. Without oversight, the door is open to exaggerated and false claims that prioritize profit over patient well-being. It is imperative to establish a board responsible for approving these images, ensuring they are grounded in truth and medical accuracy before they are showcased to the public.

By implementing a regulatory board to monitor and approve imagery in cosmetic surgery advertisements, we can foster a safer and more transparent environment for individuals considering these procedures. This board would set specific standards that must be met, providing assurance that what is portrayed in advertisements is not only achievable but also medically endorsed.

Join me in calling for the creation of a central board to regulate AI-generated images used by cosmetic and plastic surgeons in their advertising. By doing so, we can help protect countless individuals from misinformation and ensure that cosmetic surgery marketing adheres to standards of honesty and integrity.
