Save Gisborne's historic bridge

Save Gisborne's historic bridge
The issue
Gisborne's historic bluestone bridge (1872) is slated to be demolished to make way for a roundabout after the roadbuilder, Regional Roads Victoria, originally promised to save it. Several of the 120-year-old oak trees for which Gisborne is famous are also to be cut down.
The bridge/trees do not have State Government heritage protection. The relevant minister said protection was not necessary because Regional Roads Victoria had agreed to keep the bridge and incorporate it in the roundabout design, and keep all but two trees.
Macedon Ranges Shire Council documents show that Regional Roads reneged on that agreement in August 2021. Minutes of MRSC August 25 meeting show the Council's anger at the behaviour of Regional Roads Victoria.
