The issue

Eric Trump is planning to visit Australia in June or July to promote the proposed Trump Tower on the Gold Coast. As an Australian, I feel strongly that this visit does not align with our nation's values - honesty, fairness, respect for democratic institutions, and respect for the rule of law. This is why I am urging Home Affairs to refuse his visa.

Eric Trump has often been seen as a controversial figure, not just due to his family's political background but also due to various court findings against him and his businesses. These controversies cannot be overlooked when considering the impact his presence might have on Australian society.

Australia takes pride in its values of fairness, inclusivity, and integrity. Allowing someone with a record of disregard for these principles poses a risk of undermining the values we hold dear. Letting him promote Trump Tower Gold Coast here is not just about a real estate project; it is about what we, as a nation, are willing to endorse.

Numerous court cases have highlighted ethical issues within the Trump Organization. In the U.S., the Trump Foundation was ordered to dissolve after it was found to misuse funds meant for charitable purposes. Ethics and accountability should play a vital role in who we allow promoting business endeavors in our country.

Furthermore, Trump’s recent device to promote real estate aligns with practices that often benefit the few at the expense of the many. This is directly counter to Australian values that emphasise equality and the well-being of our populace.

I urge all Australians who share these concerns to add their voices to this petition. By refusing a visa, Australia would send a clear message that we value our principles and the reputation of our country. Let us stand together and appeal to Home Affairs to act with the nation's best interest at heart.

Sign this petition to remind Home Affairs of what truly aligns with Australian values and integrity.
