The issue

As proud residents and community members of Epping, we understand the vital role our neighborhood's charm and balance play in our daily lives. The proposed development DA/485/2026 threatens to bring an end to this equilibrium by proposing an excessively tall structure that starkly opposes our existing street character of 4-5 storeys.

The extreme height of the building will create an enormous shadow footprint, sweeping across our homes throughout the entire day. This incessant lack of sunlight not only robs us of natural light but also leads to severe living conditions. Without adequate sunlight, residents face increased heating costs, higher energy consumption, and a general decline in the quality of life. Moreover, our privacy is at stake, as towering skylines loom over our homes and personal spaces.

Council guidelines under ADG Part 4A clearly emphasize the importance of natural light and maintaining neighborhood character. These principles are not mere suggestions but frameworks designed to ensure harmonious living for us all. To overlook this is to disregard the spirit of community planning and development.

We implore the City of Parramatta Council and the Assessment Panel to refuse this development application outright or to demand substantial reduction in its scale to align with our beloved 4-5 storey street architecture. Doing so will uphold our community's character, ensuring that Cliff road and Hazlewood place remain a model of thriving, sustainable urbanity without sacrificing the well-being of its current residents.

Let us stand together to safeguard our sunlight, privacy, and the cherished character of our neighborhood. Please sign and share this petition to invoke the necessary changes and protect the home we hold dear.
