The Executive has an overlap of power within the Judiciary as the Yang di-Pertuan Agong appoints judges in Malaysia. Judges of the superior courts are neither elected nor appointed directly by the Prime Minister. This raises the issue of separation of powers. Reforms are needed to remove the possibility of executive interference in judicial appointments
