Reform Unjust Suspension Policies in Schools
Reform Unjust Suspension Policies in Schools
The Issue
My friends have been wrongfully suspended from school, described mockingly as "cheeky spoiled brats". It's not just demoralizing but also unfair, disrupting their education and their future potential. Suspension policies in many schools are full of inconsistencies and arbitrary decisions which lead to an increasing number of students being suspended without a valid reason. A report from the U.S. Department of Education's Office for Civil Rights revealed a shocking increase in out-of-school suspensions, from approximately 1.7 million in 1974 to over 3.1 million in 2010. This skyrocketing suspension rate not only disrupts student’s education but also potentially increases their likelihood of dropping out or getting involved in the juvenile justice system. It's time to call on Education authorities to reform these unjust suspension policies. Encourage them to introduce fair measures that rule out bias and ensure that suspensions are only employed as a last resort, ensuring that our future leaders are not unfairly hindered by unjust policies. Please, sign this petition and help us bring about urgently needed change.
