Reform the Outdated School System for Relevant Learning

The issue

My personal journey through the school system, like many others, was filled with learning numerous things that I don't use in my daily life. This concern is shared by many who have been through similar experiences across the globe.

The outdated school models we function with today were created in the Industrial Age, over two centuries ago. They were designed to educate factory workers and farmers, not to empower creative, thinking individuals who can adapt to the rapid changes that characterize the world today.

We must reform this system that is so crucial to individual and societal progress. Our children spend countless hours studying subjects that, while intensely academic, often offer little in the way of practical life skills. This lost time could be invested in teaching them critical life skills such as financial education, emotional intelligence, nutrition and health, alongside the hard academics.

This is not only my personal plea, but a call to benefit our children's futures and the development of society at large.

In Australia schools have spent millions of dollars, on yonder pouches. Millions of dollars that could have been spent on to help students get the resources they need to fix the mental health crisis, instead of having to wait months and sometimes even years to see a practitioner. Our schools admit we have a mental health problem but are not doing anything about it.

Did you know: 8/10 students in school have experience sexual harrasment, 15 percent of teachers are not qualified to teach, 1 in 4 uni studies regret the unities they studied, and say they often felt forced.

we have accepted now that “that’s just the way it is” but it doesn’t have to be like this.

Join us in urging the Department of Education and other relevant authorities to update and reform our school system. Please sign this petition to support a much-needed modernization of the school curriculum.
