Reform the Maryland Department of Transportation and E-Z Pass System

Reform the Maryland Department of Transportation and E-Z Pass System

The Issue

The current state of the Maryland Department of Transportation and E-ZPass system is raising concerns among Marylanders. Our local department of transportation is responsible for ensuring smooth, economical, and environmentally friendly transportation systems. Yet, the current state of affairs, particularly with the E-ZPass system, is far from satisfactory. With this taking place drivers can’t even renew their  registration with false debt being sent to Central Collection Unit with any explanation. As a tax paying citizen this is unacceptable.

A growing number of Marylanders express frustration due to inefficiencies, high costs, and lack of transparency associated with the E-Z Pass system. Administrative fees, penalties for missed payments, and complex terms and conditions disproportionately impact low-income families. According to the Baltimore Sun, around 34% of Maryland's E-ZPass users, who are not frequent commuters, are financially penalized due to the structure of the system.

The daily plight of our commuters and their growing dissatisfaction indicates the urgent need for systematic reform. We are advocating for a comprehensive review, re-evaluation, and reform of the transportation department and E-ZPass system in Maryland. We demand more transparency, affordability, and efficiency in our transportation systems.

Join us to instigate this significant change in Maryland’s transportation department. Sign this petition and let our voices be heard. It's time for rehabilitating our transportation system into one that serves, not burdens, the citizens of Maryland.
