Reform the Armed Forces Compensation Schemes Legislation

Reform the Armed Forces Compensation Schemes Legislation
The Issue
Soldier A was successful in his NFCI appeal on 21 March 2025 and was awarded Table 4, Item 5, Level 11, which was not challenged. He also holds a Table 3, Item 3, Level 10 award for his mental health
He was recently advised by DBS that they are in the process of administering his payment and informed that he will now be on a 50% Guaranteed Income Payment (GIP). He was subsequently told that he does not qualify for the full amount of compensation due to changes in the Armed Forces compensation schemes legislation.
This situation highlights a critical flaw in the current legislation that adversely affects those who have served our country and sustained injuries or mental health issues as a result. The lack of adequate financial support under the existing scheme leaves veterans in difficult financial situations, undermining their wellbeing and ability to reintegrate into civilian life.
The Armed Forces compensation schemes are intended to provide fair recompense to those injured while serving in the military. However, the current legislation does not fully accommodate the diverse and complex needs of veterans like Soldier A. It fails to ensure a comprehensive and equitable support system, thus betraying the commitment made to service members who sacrificed for our nation's safety.
It is essential that the government reassess and amend the Armed Forces compensation schemes legislation to better reflect the needs and realities of our veterans. This includes ensuring that all awards are dispensed in full and fairly, and that the criteria for compensation are transparent and reasonable.
I urge you to sign this petition to demand changes to the Armed Forces compensation schemes legislation, so veterans can receive the full compensation they deserve. Your support can help bring about necessary reforms to ensure that service members like Soldier A receive the dignity and financial security they are owed for their service to our country. Please sign this petition to make a difference today.
