I am writing this petition on behalf of my family member, fiancé, and friends who have been unjustly incarcerated due to false accusations of sexual assault. These are men who have gone above and beyond as family men, only to be taken advantage of by the women in their lives through coerced testimonies from children.

Our current laws on sexual assault do not adequately protect innocent individuals from being falsely accused and convicted based solely on "hearsay". We need a change in legislation that requires concrete proof such as DNA reports, video footage of the alleged crime, or screenshots of sexually explicit text messages before someone can be convicted.

Furthermore, when a victim seeks medical care following an alleged assault, it should not come from family or friends to prevent the possibility of fabricated medical reports. This is crucial because false accusations not only ruin lives but also undermine genuine cases.

According to Innocence Project statistics (2019), 69% of exoneration cases involved misapplication of forensic science which includes manipulated medical reports. Moreover, National Registry's data (2020) shows that 52% wrongful convictions resulted from perjury or false accusation.

The misuse of sexual assault allegations for leverage in personal disputes is damaging individuals and families across our nation while detracting attention away from real victims who deserve justice.

We call upon lawmakers and legal professionals alike to consider these points seriously and initiate reform in our legal system regarding sexual assault cases. It's time we ensure justice is served based on concrete evidence rather than hearsay alone.
