Reform Saskatchewan’s THC Swabbing Technique for Fair Cannabis Laws

Reform Saskatchewan’s THC Swabbing Technique for Fair Cannabis Laws

The Issue

I am a cannabis ambassador in Saskatoon, SK, Canada. I feel the entire cannabis industry is being unfairly targeted by the current THC swabbing technique used by SGI and the city of Saskatoon police. This method often detects irrelevant THC levels that exceed legal limits but do not result in intoxication or impairment. This flawed system is hurting all cannabis related business and unjustly punishing the entire cannabis community.

Cannabis has been legalized in Canada since 2018. However, our current testing methods have not evolved to accurately reflect whether a person is impaired or not. Instead of focusing on arbitrary THC levels that may remain in one's system long after consumption, we should be looking at actual impairment levels to ensure safety without infringing on personal freedoms.

According to a study published by the National Center for Biotechnology Information (NCBI), there is no direct correlation between blood THC concentration and impairment level. Yet our law enforcement continues to rely on this inaccurate measure leading to unnecessary charges and penalties.

We need SGI, SaskParty and the city of Saskatoon police to reevaluate their approach towards cannabis users in the province. We are calling for an immediate reform of these outdated testing methods that unfairly target law-abiding citizens who consume cannabis responsibly.

Please sign this petition if you believe in fair laws for all citizens regardless of their choice to consume legal substances like cannabis.
