No Predators in Youth Spaces is dedicated to closing legal loopholes that allow convicted sex offenders to own, operate, or work in businesses where minors are present.

Currently, New York law does not impose the same stringent background check requirements on businesses like martial arts schools, dance studios, and tutoring centers as it does on licensed childcare facilities. This puts children at risk.

Our mission is to advocate for legislative changes to New York Education Law § 5001 and New York Social Services Law § 390 to ensure that all businesses serving minors have mandatory background checks and strict prohibitions against employing or being operated by convicted sex offenders.
