PARLIAMENTARY ADJOURNMENT DEBATE:
This Thursday coming, Sir David Davis will be leading an adjournment debate in Parliament concerning the “Conduct of Cheshire Police in the case of Lucy Letby.” See the link below:
https://whatson.parliament.uk/event/cal55054
Adjournment debates are usually held right at the end of Parliamentary sittings and give backbenchers an opportunity to raise matters they feel strongly about, without the need for a vote afterwards.
I’m sure you will all agree that for almost two years now, Sir David has gone above and beyond for Lucy. This is the second time he has brought her case up in Parliament and he has also undertaken several TV interviews and he chaired the international expert panel’s press conference in February last year.
As wonderful as he has been, he should not be expected to do this alone. Sir David really should have more support from other MPs now. This subject is no longer the taboo it was two years ago.
With this in mind, I respectfully ask all of you who want to help Lucy further, to urgently Email your MPs within the next couple of days to ask them to attend the debate on Thursday to support Sir David.
Even though Parliament handed over power to investigate potential miscarriages of justice to the CCRC back in 1997, I can not stress enough the importance of cross-party support for Lucy and the potential influence it could have on the actual decision makers, if pressure begins to intensify in Parliament.
Remember to ALWAYS keep your Emails polite, factual and more broad than how you feel personally. Also, avoid attacking those who you feel have wronged Lucy in the past. None of that is relevant, all we are looking to achieve here is the mobilising of more MPs. The more professional your Email comes across, the more seriously you will be taken.
Here is a list of just some of the things you could mention in your Emails to help to persuade your MPs to take part :
- Cheshire Police's apparent lack of investigation to explore alternative causes for the infant deaths and collapses.
- Their unprecedented press briefing with the media just before the trial began.
- Their public criticism of the Crown Prosecution Service's decision not to pursue further charges against Lucy.
- Allowing sensitive and distressing bodycam footage of Lucy’s arrests to get into the hands of Netflix for the purpose of “public entertainment”.
Thank you in advance to those of you who will take part in this wider YB activity at such short notice. Even if your MP doesn’t speak live at the debate but is present, there will still be plenty of private discussions among them all afterwards and what better way for new alliances to be formed?
Best wishes and enjoy the rest of your Sunday,
Christopher Logan (YB Group founder and campaign lead)
