The Issue

As an ethical creator on Teachers Pay Teachers (TPT), I am compelled to address a significant concern regarding TPT's recent policy decision to impose a sweeping, retroactive ban on all AI-assisted content. While this approach may be well-intentioned to curb the proliferation of unedited, bulk-automated content, it unfairly penalizes creators like me who leverage AI tools responsibly to enhance quality and efficiency.

AI technology has profoundly transformed the landscape of education, offering creators innovative ways to deliver high-quality content and resources. By using AI responsibly, we can cater to diverse learning styles, improve accessibility, and save valuable time—all of which enhance the educational experience for both teachers and students.

It's vital for TPT to recognize the distinction between harmful spam—content generated without human oversight or ethical consideration—and thoughtful, human-curated AI assistance that upholds the core values and standards of educational integrity. Without this differentiation, TPT risks alienating the dedicated educators who formed the backbone of this platform, those actively striving to improve educational outcomes through modern technology.

Educators rely on TPT not just for resources, but for a supportive community that values creative and innovative solutions. By rescinding this blanket ban and forming a nuanced policy that distinguishes between responsible AI use and bulk spam, TPT can continue to support its community of creators who are committed to quality.

I urge TPT to engage its community of creators and educators in collaborative discussions to develop clear guidelines around AI-assisted content. By involving all stakeholders, TPT can create a balanced policy that fosters innovation while maintaining high standards for educational resources.

Join me in calling on TPT to reevaluate its stance on AI content and work towards a fair solution that supports ethical use of technology. Sign this petition to help us pave the way for responsible innovation on TPT.
