"Reevaluate Priorities: Dr. Abhay Bansal, Focus on SCSET Academics and Placements!"
"Reevaluate Priorities: Dr. Abhay Bansal, Focus on SCSET Academics and Placements!"
The Issue
We, the undersigned students of Bennett University, specifically from the School of Computer Science and Engineering (SCSET), are collectively expressing our concerns about the current state of academic and placement affairs under the leadership of our esteemed Dean. In addition to the perceived neglect of responsibilities in the areas of Academics and Placements, we also wish to address certain issues related to the Dean's engagement on social media platforms. Our concerns are as follows:
- Overcrowding Due to Marketing Focus: The management seems to be prioritizing the marketing of SCSET, leading to significant overcrowding. This imbalance is detrimental to the overall growth and reputation of Bennett University.
- Resource Allocation and Modern Facilities: We are concerned that the university is spending more resources on attracting new students rather than providing modern facilities and introducing new labs. For instance, the Super Computing facility is now seven years old and outdated.
- Decline in Faculty Quality: The overcrowding in SCSET has led to a decline in the quality of faculty and, consequently, the quality of education. This overcrowding is affecting our learning environment and overall academic experience.
- Lack of Attention to Academics and Placements: It has come to our attention that overseeing Academics and Placements, crucial aspects of our educational journey, are not receiving the attention they deserve. Our academic and career development should be at the forefront of the institution's priorities, and we believe that a shift in focus is necessary for the benefit of all students within the SCSET.
- Pressure to Attend Foreign Summer Programs: Many of us have experienced undue pressure to participate in foreign summer programs, which we find distracting from our academic pursuits and placement preparation. We chose Bennett University with the expectation of accessing the best opportunities here in India, particularly within the SCSET, and we believe that the emphasis on foreign programs is detracting from our ability to excel locally.
- Lack of Intervention in Placement Opportunities: We are disheartened by the perceived lack of intervention and guidance from the Dean in matters related to placements, specifically within the SCSET. The absence of initiatives to share placement opportunities, events, and experiences, as was done by our previous Dean, is hindering our ability to explore diverse career paths and make informed decisions about our future within our academic discipline.
- False Claims About Internship Opportunities: We are concerned about statements made by Dean Abhay Bansal in interviews, where he claims that there are no cases where students don't get internships. In reality, many students' resumes don't even get shortlisted, leading to significant frustration and a lack of opportunities.
In light of the above concerns, we, the undersigned students from SCSET, urgently request the following actions:
A reevaluation of the Dean's priorities, with a renewed focus on Academics and Placements within SCSET.
Clear communication regarding the benefits and expectations of participating in foreign summer programs, particularly tailored to SCSET.
Increased intervention and support from the Dean in matters related to placement opportunities and career guidance.
A balanced focus on marketing and academic excellence across all schools within the university.
Allocation of resources towards modernizing facilities and introducing new labs to keep pace with technological advancements.
Addressing the issue of overcrowding within SCSET to improve the quality of faculty and education.
Honest and transparent communication regarding the true state of internship opportunities for students.
We hope that our concerns will be taken seriously, and we look forward to seeing positive changes that enhance the overall academic and career development experience at Bennett University.
