Reevaluate Maryland's Juvenile Criminal Justice Laws for Repeat Offenders

The Issue

I am a resident of Canton, Baltimore, MD and have personally experienced the fear and trauma caused by repeat juvenile offenders in our community. Our current laws do not seem to deter these young individuals from committing crimes repeatedly, causing constant fear among us.

According to the Department of Juvenile Services in Maryland, there has been a significant increase in juvenile arrests over the past few years. This is a clear indication that our current system is failing to rehabilitate these young offenders effectively. Now is the time we bring safety back to our neighborhoods.

We need a comprehensive review of our state's juvenile criminal justice laws, with our current laws juvenile offenders are not being held accountable for their actions.

The safety and peace of our communities are at stake here. We urge lawmakers in Maryland to take immediate action towards reforming our juvenile justice system for repeat offenders. Please sign this petition if you believe in creating safer communities through effective rehabilitation strategies for youth offenders and to hold them accountable for their crimes.
