Reevaluate India's No First Use Nuclear Policy

The Issue

The sanctity and safety of my country, India, are paramount to me, and it feels threatening to witness neighboring countries flexing their nuclear capabilities without any intentions of adhering to a "no first use" policy. Although not an advocate of nuclear aggression, it's daunting to see our nation perceived merely as a passive power, constantly on the defensive, while others employ intimidation tactics.

India's current "no first use" policy aims to maintain peace and prevent nuclear conflict, a noble endeavor indeed. However, this policy may inadvertently embolden neighboring countries to wield their nuclear arsenals as scare tactics against us, perceiving India as reluctant or defenseless. It raises a pressing need to review and perhaps amend this policy to assertively communicate to our neighbors that India will not stand idly by while its sovereignty is threatened.

A comprehensive review involving not just the Prime Minister but a broader council of leaders dedicated to national security and nuclear strategy could ensure a balanced approach to nuclear policy without escalating conflict unnecessarily. Such a collective decision-making process can be more representative and enforce the message that India remains steadfast in defending its sovereignty and the well-being of its citizens.

This petition advocates for a strategic reevaluation of India's nuclear stance in a manner that strengthens its global position without provoking nuclear conflict. An empowered, strategic council could monitor and decide on necessary defensive actions concerning nuclear policy.

Sign this petition to propel the Indian government towards establishing a more secure policy that protects its citizens and strengthens India's reputation as a nation of not just staunch defenders, but as a formidable power standing confident and ready on the global stage.
