 Alongside this, there's another issue at hand: the age requirements for starting an office in most states are set to start from 30 years old.

This age limit adds years of potentially productive political service onto an individual's mandatory wait time before they can undertake a role in public office. In allowing this policy to stand, we are limiting access to diverse representation - the kind of representation which would be invaluable in tackling the challenges of our modern society.

Over the years, there have been several remarkable leaders who have not only taken up significant roles but have also done so at a young age. For instance, William Pitt the Younger became the Prime Minister of the United Kingdom at just 24 years old, and New Zealand's current prime minister, Jacinda Ardern, took up her role when she was only 37.

Hence, we find that age should not limit capable individuals from serving their nation. After all, the age of adulthood in most states is 18 where one is deemed responsible and entrusted to vote, to marry, and even to join the military. So why can't these same individuals consider a career in politics until they're 30?

The time for change is now. Lower the age requirements for starting an office. Sign this petition to support the call for the reduction of age requirement to hold public office because the future belongs to our youth and they should have the right to shape it.
