Speed reduction measurements must be put in place on the B5013 Uttoxeter Road Blithfield reservoir causeway!  

Unfortunately the tragic passing of a young man took place on the Uttoxeter road at 12th August 9:30pm.

This reservoir area is well known for it’s scenic beauty and nature spotting opportunities, however, it is also a hot spot for the car and bike community, often used for meets and races.

police patrol simply isn’t enough to ensure the safety of visitors here. This is the second fatal incident on Uttoxeter Road in just 9 months!

Along side multiple news reports of collisions in this area over the years, social media users have also shared their experiences of witnessing and/or being a part of very near accidents and this is a recognised issue within the local community.

due the the lack of restrictions and lighting present, many cars arriving just after the incident were almost unable to stop in time, which resulted in additional risk to the witnesses of the scene.

I ask that the local authorities urgently make safety changes to this road such as, a reduction in speed limit, speed cameras and road lighting across the causeway to increase visibility in such a rural area.
