Reduce payments for parents with other children.

Reduce payments for parents with other children.
The Issue
Currently, the system disadvantages children that are living with parents who pay child support to a child from a previous partner. This is because the recieving child receives far more of the parents income than is calculated for the children that actually live with the paying parent. This is completely unfair on the children that are being punished for no fault of their own. This inequity means that children living with paying parents are deprived of opportunities simply due to outdated maintenance calculations.
For example A paying parent with a UK average income of £35,464 and 1 child with an ex-partner and 3 children with a new partner is expected to pay £58.75 per week for the child from the previous relationship. This amounts to £3052 per year. If all children received an equal amount, the total would be £12,211 a third of their entire income. This is not affordable and so the recieving child ends up with far more of the income while the others share what ever is left. The more children you have the worse The situation becomes.
We need a fairer system where all children receive an equal share of their parent's income regardless of their living arrangements. Sign this petition to urge policymakers to revise child maintenance calculations so every child gets equal support and opportunities!
