Reading your comments on the petition makes me push forward. It is so sad to hear how many of you, or people you know, have been going through the same things I went through, or even worse. All of which could have been prevented if we had a chance to see a specialist and to have a pelvic examination at least once! It is shocking that in such a developed county as the UK we need to fight for a basic yet crucial medical service.
 
There was a recent article in BBC News* (please see the article below) about a woman undiagnosed for 7 years with Vulval cancer. This is unacceptable yet unsurprising that many GPs have never seen the condition before. So in the current NHS system, our lives are in the hands of the GPs who have never been trained about all the so-called “women’s issues”, yet they are the only ones who we rely on to diagnose us!
 
This guessing game needs to stop and needs to stop NOW! We have to stop needless deaths and suffering from illnesses that can be prevented with the right checks by a professional with the right training.
Over 7600 women per year are dying from issues that can be avoided with the right medical services!
 
The petition has gained support from more medical professionals, including GPs, which is invaluable!
We are now awaiting support from the MPs to take the conversation to a far wider audience about this essential change to improve women’s health in the UK.
