We have 35 signatures from local residences as only they count.
They have been forwarded to the Shire.
My initial email raising my concerns received a response from David Nicholson, Manger of Asset Services from the Shire, he informed me Main Roads controls the speed limits on all roads. Main Roads told me to contact the Shire!
Originally the speed limit was 110, and after a fatal crash on East Kevill it was reduced to 70. After a time for people to adjust to the new speed limit, It will be monitored in the the future. Although It is the tourists and people who don't live on these roads that are the concern, not people who drive it all the time.
Our are is unique and it would be interesting to know the process Main Roads chose 70km/hour. To raise more awareness I urge you to write your own emails to both the Shire and Main Roads with your own experiences of driving and living in our area and the concerns you have.
