The Issue

The roblox page for parents with  neurodivergent children needs to change because it claims false things about neurodivergent children and it should be written from a neurodivergent childs perspective. Roblox wrote this page with someone who was not neurodivergent and it claims false things, as a neurodivergent person myself screentime is sometimes a coping mechanism not a bad habit. Signing this petition will help improve roblox. This petition aligns with the core missions of global advocacy groups like the Neurodiversity Education Research Center, which actively promote strength-based frameworks and work to correct outdated, clinical misinformation regarding neurodivergent individuals. This also aligns with other neurodivergent research departments such as The Stanford neurodiversity project, TREND lab at Children's hospital Los Angeles, UC Davis MIND institute, and more. These departments research how neurodiversity works and have valid research. Some facts these research departments have found:

  • Autistic brains feature distinct structural differences. These differences are lower overall synaptic density or varying local neuron densities in regions linked to memory and sensory processing.
  • Data proves that neurodivergent conditions are expansive spectrums comprised of multiple biologically distinct subtypes rather than a single disorder.

There are more facts about neurodiversity that are not included in this petition. Research them here: Stanford neurodiversity project

The pages that roblox has wrong information on neurodivergent children are in the following list:

Some neurodivergent kids have unlimited screentime because they naturaly take a break after 10 minutes. Roblox assumes one blanket stereotype for all neurodivergent children which is prooven wrong by Stanford's neurodiversity project.

Roblox states a fact here that is wrong, screentime can be productive if it's programming but a screentime limit this short can make a neurodivergent child feel frustrated:

"

Many games require users to sit in one place to play (with some exceptions).

If a child plays for extended periods of time, they might experience physical health issues such as body pain, difficulty sleeping, eye strain, migraines and more.
