Join the Exodus

The time has come for exodus.

You might think that this doesn't effect you. Nothing could be further from the truth. What happens at the top effects all of us. Choices made by site staff lead to better or worse experiences for every single user, whether they know it or not. This is about more than Victoria and FPH. It's about a long history of administrative abuse that has gone on for far too long. They had their chance, and they blew it. 

We stood by while the admins sanitized the front page and paved the way for corporate censorship. We're on a crash-course for ad-monkey cymbal dances and bland, mass-produced "content". Where we used to generate half the stories on the entire goddamned internet (a claim validated by the collective freakout of nearly all news sites during the blackout), we've turned into yet another 9gag which simply reposts what it once created.

Oh, how the mighty have fallen.

We're pissed not only at the failure to measurably improve the site in over 3 years, but the lack of simple mod tools so communities can function.

Most of all, we're sick and tired of an out-of touch administration that no longer treats us as people, but products. We could've forgiven everything else, but that's unacceptable. It's too late for an apology. Years too late.  

Reddit is no longer Reddit. Reddit is Digg. Reddit is MySpace.

Which means, of course, that we need a new Reddit.

This petition is for the signers and the readers. It's a signal to everyone who loves what reddit used to be. A Meta-Petition, if you will, for anyone that has a contact infection from interacting with what our community has become.

We implore you on behalf of the future of the internet, migrate.

It doesn't matter if you are pro- or anti Pao, whether you loved FPH or hated it. Whoever you are, you deserve better. Join our exodus.

Create your content elsewhere. If you're a mod, tell your subscribers and take your subreddit with you.

Because once we leave, the apathetic masses will follow and this beautiful clusterfuck we call Reddit will cease to *be*.

This is, of course, the natural conclusion of the AMAgeddon — a new internet born out of the ashes of the old.

We've complained long enough. Empty words won't cut it. The only way to send a message is voting with your feet.

We wait for you in the promised land. Sign. Spread. And migrate.
