Space is at a premium in San Diego, and that premium is only growing in North Park.  The plan is to utilize the buffer spaces created by the recent daylighting law (AB-413) in locations preferred by the community.

AB 413 prohibits parking within 20 feet of a crosswalk, freeing up sections of the street previously occupied by cars.

The North Park Planning Committee is inviting our neighbors to support a pilot program that would bring much-needed community amenities to our streets including, but not limited to: 

Garden Space
Art Installations
Micro-mobility Corrals
Bike Racks
Community Libraries
Dining Areas
Information Boards
Bike Repair Stations
Pop-up Spaces/Kiosks
Shade/Cooling Stations
Your ideas!

These low-profile interventions would maintain the safety improvement of daylighting while ensuring that our scarce public spaces are used to benefit the community.
