Good morning! I was just made aware there is a scheduled board meeting on Tues 8/11. I have invited President, Adriana Griffin, via email to our Rally on Thursday 8/13. I encourage every parent to send an email to the board members and let them know your position on Distanced Learning. I encourage you to also offer suggested solutions. We cannot approach and ask for something to be changed if we can't offer them a solution. My suggestion is to limit distance learning to students with preexisting conditions, health or mental disorders, allow other parents who do not fall into this category to home school, effectively taking responsibility for their child's education. This could relieve the district of responsibility to provide a teacher for their student as the current mandate requires. Another great suggestion was that if a classroom has 25 students and 5 of them want to do distance learning, then dedicate a portion of the morning for them to learn with their class. Most younger classes have aides (and I'm sure some parents will be willing to help) and they will all be on the same learning schedule for when their parents allow them to resume in person classes. From what I've read, this model can fill the states requirements for attendance and time. There's some fine tuning that needs to be done with all of this but I wanted to give a few suggestions of potential solutions. It's time for the district to really hear from us!
