I am one of 10,000 people born with Williams Syndrome, a very rare genetic disorder. May is our awareness month, but due to its rarity, it is not recognized across the USA. Williams Syndrome affects approximately 1 in 10,000 people worldwide and can cause developmental delays and cardiovascular issues among other challenges. Official recognition of Williams Syndrome Awareness Month at both local and federal levels would help increase understanding and support for those affected by this condition.
