We are grade 9 students who feel strongly that we should be doing more about the calls to action of Aboriginal rights.

Did you know that the life expectancy of many Aboriginal peoples in Canada is 20 years lower than the average Canadian because they do not have proper healthcare! This has been going on for too long with no help. Their healthcare system is so broken that nearly 6 out of 10 Aboriginal people die each year from modern diseases that could have been prevented and stopped with proper healthcare. 

We tend to forget that having healthcare doesn't come the same to everybody. Imagine if it was you. Imagine you were sick with a bad flu and you couldn't go to the doctor or get flu medicine. And what about the recent pandemic.  What if you had Covid-19 and couldn't get the healthcare you needed. The Aboriginal people have had to live like this for too long. 

Now is the time to stand up for the aboriginal people before it's to late. This project is "in motion" according  to the Federal government but it was supposed to be resolved in January 2021, but still has not been drafted! How can they sit back while people's lives are at stake? We need to stand up for what is right and ensure the Aboriginal people of Canada get proper healthcare.
