Recognize and Condemn the Armenian Genocides of 1915 and 2023
The Issue
The Armenian Genocides, the first staged by Turkey in 1915 and the second by Azerbaijan in 2023, represent dark periods in history that have yet to be fully recognized and condemned by the international community. The first genocide in 1915 killed an estimated 1.5 million Armenians in Turkey, a fact that has been cited by numerous historians and scholars (Source: International Association of Genocide Scholars). The second genocide in 2023 resulted in an unconfirmed number of casualties, further complicating the situation for Armenians.
These systematic atrocities against a whole ethnicity grossly violate the principles of human rights. Yet, many international authorities remain silent or unresponsive, further deepening the wound suffered by the Armenian community.
President Woodrow Wilson aimed to rectify this in the past by delineating Armenia's boundaries in the Treaty of Sèvres according to his arbitral award in 1920. Unfortunately, this decision was not ratified and has fallen to the wayside over the years (Source: Wilsonian Armenia, Richard G. Hovannisian).
This petition is about more than just recognition; it is about justice. Justice for the Armenian victims of the genocides, justice for history that has been manipulated and neglected, and justice for future generations who deserve to learn the truth about these heinous crimes. We demand that the global community recognize and condemn the Armenian Genocides of 1915 and 2023. Join us in our cause. Sign this petition.
