Petition updateFree RasoolA plea from a friend and colleague

My name is Jake Hanrahan, and I’m a journalist with VICE News. I’m writing you today to ask for your continued help to free Rasool from Turkish prison. In late August, I was working on a story in southeastern Turkey with Rasool and Phillip -- both friends and colleagues -- when we were unexpectedly arrested by Turkish authorities on baseless charges. Phillip and I, who are British citizens, were released after 11 days. We are now fighting to free our friend Rasool. Without any evidence, Turkish authorities charged us with aiding a terrorist organization. But Rasool is not a terrorist. He is a respected, passionate, and hardworking 25-year-old journalist. And despite committing no crime, Rasool is being kept in a high-security anti-terror prison. His arrest is an attack on press freedom. Without journalists like him, the work that VICE and other news outlets do could not happen. Strong international pressure on the Turkish government is key to helping Rasool get released. Will you share this petition with your friends and family to keep the attention on Rasool? The whole world needs to know about this injustice. Click here to tweet the petition to your followers: http://ctt.ec/h802j. Thank you all, Jake
