Receive Roadwork/Maintenance for the streets of Eastside and Avenues in Wichita Falls, Tx.
The Issue
I’ve lived in and out of Wichita Falls for several years since 2016, and for years, the roads in these particular areas are horrendous and have not been touched in years. In this area, I’ve personally known many peers who struggle with automotive issues stemming from the lack of attention to the roads on the more condensed side of town— including myself. Not only is most of the community in these particular areas trying to simply make it from one paycheck to the next, but there is CONSISTENT roadwork being done all the way down Southwest parkway FREQUENTLY, so personally I know there shouldn’t be an issue with at least making an attempt on the Eastside if we can afford it. The last actual attempt to repair any roadways or neighborhoods was made in August of 2016. Through this particular period of time, downtown Wichita Falls hosts the annual HotterN’Hell 100 marathon. This is an event where bikers from around the globe come downtown(the East) to compete. A couple weeks before the marathon was scheduled to take place, the city promptly had road workers hit the streets to make repairs in which they did a phenomenal job, however they only made repairs on the pathways for the bikers. Every bump, dip, and pothole in the neighborhoods of Brook Ave., Broadway St., 5th St., Bluff St., Austin St., etc. was left as is, and is still the same today. Not to mention there was $3.4 million dollars spent in January of 2022 this year to repair a damaged freeway IMMEDIATELY after it was effected, so I don’t see any problem with someone coming and taking a look at the conditions that we drive in on a daily basis and getting the crew down here to fix it. Giving EVERY coast of the city's streets and highways the proper attention that they need would solidify the opportunity to not only generate more revenue for our economy, granted more people would be able to travel throughout the WHOLE city with ease; but it would also relieve tons stress from the ENTIRE community as a whole since we could finally be able to travel 100 feet without the potential of damaging our vehicles. (More specifically, tires, alignments, and leak hazards.) Thank you so much and we’d very much appreciate your time and consideration!
