As someone deeply troubled by the ongoing events in Palestine, I am appalled by the apparent indifference and silence displayed by our Utah Senators, John Curtis and Mike Lee. As their constituents and voters, we must take a stand when our voices are shrugged off — especially over such crucial issues.

Our concerns stem from the current administration's decision to force student visa holders to self-deport due to their opinions on the Palestinian genocide. This act, in clear defiance of the first amendment, poses a threat not just to international students but to the fundamental principles of freedom of speech and expression.

Regrettably, Senators Curtis and Lee, who are elected to represent us, have shown a glaring absence of any decisive action or statement on this matter. A representative government can't afford to maintain silence while its constituents' rights are being compromised.
