These are difficult times for people in our community, where we are living in constant fear that our loved ones will leave the house and never return. We often look for our elected leaders as a guide. In a city where over 75% of the population is Hispanic, the mayor has remained silent in the face of recent ICE raids that have spread fear and instability among our families and neighbors. The Mayor's lack of public response, followed by a lack of support in her response message days after, clearly shows a failure of leadership and disregard for the safety of the people she was elected to serve. The situation has the possibility of getting worse, and we can not rely on someone who can sit back and sit quietly. We believe this inaction is a serious neglect of duty and grounds for her removal from office.
