Having worked as a paralegal in the Maricopa County Attorney’s Office for 16 years, I witnessed firsthand the dedication and professionalism that once defined our office. It was a place where justice was served, where crime victims received the support they deserved, and political games were never part of our ethos. Unfortunately, under the current leadership of Rachel Mitchell, the integrity of this office is under threat.

Rachel Mitchell has consistently overstepped her authority, meddling in election fraud investigations and obstructing the county recorder from fulfilling his duties. Her actions are not only undemocratic but dangerous to the very fabric of justice that this office was built upon. Mitchell has even gone so far as to refer a lawyer to the state bar for disbarment solely for criticizing her, an act that reflects not a pursuit of justice, but a vendetta that has no place in a role dedicated to serving the public and seeking justice for crime victims.

As if this wasn't troubling enough, during her campaign for County Attorney, Mitchell displayed a fear of transparency and accountability by refusing to debate her opponent. This lack of willingness to engage with differing viewpoints and defend her policies publicly only further highlights her unsuitability for the role.

The role of the County Attorney is to uphold justice, offer protection to our community, and ensure that the law is applied fairly — not to interfere with ongoing investigations or silence those who dare to speak against her. Rachel Mitchell’s actions are not just a deviation from this duty; they are a betrayal of the trust placed in her by the people of Maricopa County.

It is with these concerns in mind that I urge you to join me in calling for the recall of Rachel Mitchell as Maricopa County Attorney. Her continued presence in this role undermines the justice system we rely on and the principles we hold dear as a community.
