The Issue

I congratulate Prime Minister Mark Carney on his minority government election victory last night. I hope he does not piss away the goodwill he has earned by backing out of campaign promises because they are too hard to achieve like Trudeau did with electoral reform.

I also want to sincerely thank Pierre Poilievre for leading by example and calling out the people who booed Carney. I actually gained a measure of respect for the man in that moment and sincerely hope that he is serious about working with Carney to create a better Canada together. Democracy doesn’t work without a strong opposition.

Ms. Kolodynicki’s vision for a more Republican province has been the talk of Alberta for the last several years and inspired many people to seek shelter in the arms of the federal liberals. Her constant demonizing and demeaning of Albertans that don’t share her values has for political gain has been truly Trump-like and her refusal to stand up for Canada with every other premier in confederation has earned her scorn and resentment in every corner of the country. Her disgust and contempt for those who don’t share her ideology could not be clearer. She is no friend to confederation.

As a random Albertan taxpayer, I invite the Premier to immediately commence working with the federal government to reset the relationship between Ottawa and Alberta with meaningful action rather than divisive rhetoric, because that’s what I pay her for.

A large number of Albertans are deeply frustrated that the same government that has overtly attacked Alberta’s most vulnerable citizens unabated for 42 of the last 46 years is still in government. Even worse is her outright refusal to work with the federal government for the betterment of Albertans, and all Canadians. When you add in her constant meddling and overreach in municipal affairs, and you have a recipe for disaster.

As a random guy with too much time on his hands, I will not permit the status quo to continue. Albertans are proud Canadians that want this nation to be strong, prosperous, and united, but we will no longer tolerate having our provincial government refuse to work with the federal government and Alberta municipalities for the betterment of all Albertans and Canadians.

In the weeks and months ahead, Albertans will have an opportunity to discuss our province’s future, assess various options for strengthening and preventing our province from future hostile acts towards Ottawa, and to ultimately choose a path forward. We may ultimately come to realize we are better off without Marlaina if these requests for cooperation with others prove to be too daunting.

As a high school graduate, I will facilitate and lead this petition and process with the sincere hope of securing a prosperous future for our province within a united Canada that respects all Albertans, facilitates rather than blocks the development and export of our abundant resources, and treats all municipalities in Alberta as a valued and respected partner within the province.

I will be having a few buddies over for beers on Thursday to discuss this matter further. I will have more to say after game 6 has concluded.
