The Issue

Public safety departments play a vital role in protecting our community, yet they often operate with limited resources. The Monrovia Police Department was significantly impacted when the Bobcat Fire destroyed its rifle range in Canyon Park, a critical facility for essential law enforcement training. The loss of this range significantly limits officers’ ability to train effectively, placing both officers and the public at increased risk. Firearms proficiency and tactical readiness are fundamental to modern policing, and dedicated training facilities are necessary to ensure officers can respond safely, confidently, and professionally to high-risk situations. The Canyon Park rifle range was more than a training site; it was a cornerstone of preparedness, skill development, and teamwork. Its destruction represents a significant gap in our community’s public safety infrastructure. Rebuilding the range would reaffirm Monrovia’s commitment to equipping its police officers with the tools and training environments required to uphold the highest standards of safety and service. Monrovia has long demonstrated resilience and unity in the face of adversity. Restoring this facility is an investment not only in our officers, but in the safety and security of the entire community. Delaying reconstruction further prolongs the period during which officers are unable to receive comprehensive, local training. We respectfully urge the City of Monrovia, local officials, and community stakeholders to prioritize the rebuilding of the Monrovia Police Department’s rifle range. Your support will help ensure our officers are properly trained and prepared to ensure our community remains safe. Please sign this petition to advocate for the reconstruction of this essential public safety facility.
